Weird!

This photo was taken this AM... tulips in the snow!

When they mentionned snow in the forecast, I thought they were kidding or that they would be wrong.  But by day's end yesterday there was quite the accumulation out there.  And more this morning!  I truly hope that all that budded will not suffer too much.  Apparently, we will be back to regular temperatures by tomorrow.  We shall see!

Cuba 2010

Finally, some pictures from Cuba!

And, as well, here are a few shots of my favorites flowers from Cuba.

Olympic Parade

As mentionned in my last post, Gord was invited to be in the Canadian Olympic Team Parade.  So we all went down to be part of it and what a wonderful day it was!  It was a beautiful, warm day and it was quite funny to see all the athletes and torch bearers in their winter coats!  They must have sweat like crazy!

Anyway, funny story.  After Gord's torch relay back in Dec. 2009, anyone who wanted to see or touch his torch was warned about NOT touching the soot at the tip.  This was OFFICIAL Olympic soot, you know!  He did, however, forget to mention it to our nanny and guess what?  Two months later, she decided that it had to cleaned.  CLEANED!!!  All the official soot was removed and Gord had a heart attack!  But, he did not tell her and she thought she was dong something good.  Well, today, Gord was able to get his torch signed by 10 of the 14 gold medalists.  It was a perfect canvas for it as it was so clean!  So sometimes good things come out of a bad situation.  Except now he is obsessed with getting his torch signed by the remaining 4 gold medalists!  Oy-vey!!

So, without further ado, here are some pictures of the day.

He does it again!

Gord's dream never ends apparently!  He got an email today from the Olympic Committee to request his presence at the Canadian Olympic Team Parade on Friday.  And yes folks... he MUST wear his torchbearer uniform and bring his torch.  Hahaha!  My girlfriends (N & V) and I were joking last night about Gord and his beloved suit and now this.  So once again, the girls and I will be lining the streets of downtown Montreal as of 11:30AM to watch Gord parade around in his torchbearer suit for what should be the very last time.

The night before last, we were sleeping when the phone rang.  I hate when that happens cuz you know it's never good news on the other side.  It was our friend / neighbor, MM, announcing to us that he was in our cottage with the police and the robber.  Basically, MM noticed a suspicious car roaming around the lake and since there had been many break-ins during the winter, he decided to investigate.  After driving around for 30 minutes, he came across the car in our driveway.  All the lights were on and he saw shadows inside.  Problem for the thiefs is that oncce they noticed MM's truck, they could not get away as our road is a cul-de-sac and MM's truck was blocking the way.  He had already called the police with his suspicions so they were there relatively quickly.  However, once they got in, there was only one person there, a 20 year old girl.  The other or others had already fled the scene.  Why she stayed, you ask?  It was her car in our driveway so she was screwed.  She kept insisting that she was alone but I guess as time went on at the police station, she must have gotten spooked or her parents told her to fess up.  She gave up the names of the two guys and according to the police, they have been located and are coming in today.

What really bugs me the most, besides the violation of my home and personal space, is that they destroyed my new front door.  A door that has only seen my key maybe a total of 10 times!  And they took stupid things like the TV remote, ipod charger etc.  Anyway, it is rare that thiefs are caught so this story is quite unique.  And I am very thankful to MM for taking the initiative in snooping around and then actually stopping them in the act.  Our lake will now be a better place to live!
