Bombs bursting in air

Since it rained on New Year's Eve, we had to cancel our annual cottage fireworks. But this weekend, the weather was great and we had friends over for dinner so it ended up being THE night. Only in Canada can you sit on your dock by a roaring fire roasting marshmallows while watching fireworks... All in the middle of winter! It was a great night, one that we all will remember for years to come!

And a post would not be a post without a cute picture of the girls. Enjoy!

Winter Fun

This weekend we decided to hit the road and pack ALL our sh*t and head out to Jay Peak to visit with C, P and G.  It takes an entire minivan to move all the stuff needed for 4 people (skis, snowshoes, ski suits, boots etc).  It is totally ridiculous... and exhausting!  But it was soooo much fun to go somewhere else other than our cottage.  The girls love road trips especially sleeping in different places.  So needless to say, everyone ended up in pjs rather quickly and settled in to watch a movie while the moms quietly relaxed and enjoyed a glass of wine.  The boys were to join us later once Gord landed from LA.

We spent the entire day skiing on Saturday.  It was great especially because this year, it wasn't nearly as cold as it was last year!  And we ended our Jay Peak experience with a wonderful beer (or two!) at the bar.  What?  The girls had hot chocolates...  Oh and I forgot my camera so no pictures of us on the slopes.

The following day we decided to take it easy.  After a long drawn out breakfast, we headed out for a walk on the property and the girls played in the treehouse for a while followed by some toboganning.  Here I had my camera...

It was a great day and great weekend.  Thanks C, P and G!  We'll be back  ;)

Holiday 2010 in Review

The holidays are always very hectic for all but when you have a store and you are catering to all the mad shoppers until 5PM on December 24th, nothing about this holiday is exciting!  Frankly, all I was looking forward to was pyjama day which I declared early on to be held on December 26th.  So really, for me, the best part of this Holiday Season was the day after Christmas, the day where I had nowhere to be but home with my kids.

Here's a quick review:

Christmas Eve:  The girls just before we hustled them out to Uncle G and Auntie B's for dinner.

Christmas morning:  The girls in their Christmas PJ's just before the ripped apart every gift under the tree.

Our annual family portrait on Christmas morning.

The girls all dressed up at my parent's house for Christmas lunch.

The 3 granddaughters with Nonna and Nonno.

Finally, December 26th... Pyjama Day!!  And our annual family portrait with our cottage Christmas tree.

More PJ Day fun.  Gingie riding on Doggie's back.

And Christmas wreaths made out of handprints.

Now this is what went on between Christmas and New Year's.  A whole lot of nothing!  Gord stayed at the cottage and worked from there while I commuted back and forth.  This was the only photo I found in the camera after 7 days!

And finally New Year's Eve.  We had a quiet dinner with J and C.  And since we had to cancel our fireworks due to rain, we decided that there was no better time to build that gingerbread house.  A nice, quiet way to end the year!
